The Manager at Pittodrie
Jim Goodwin was at Pittodrie this afternoon for the first time as Aberdeen manager and spoke to RedTV at length. To watch the interview in full please click on the red button or watch below via the AFC YouTube channel.
“It has been brilliant to finally get into Cormack Park. I had never seen the facility before, I had watched some bits online and seen pictures but had not had the pleasure of walking round it. I was blown away with what I saw. It is actually better than what I anticipated. The club have obviously made a huge investment in the development and hopefully we will see success coming off the back of it.
“As you can image the first couple of days have been quite hectic, trying to get to know everybody. I have been having as many meetings as possible with all the backroom staff and all the admin staff, not only at the training ground but also at the stadium as well. I was keen to come down to Pittodrie not only to speak to RedTV but to also introduce myself to the wider staff because it is a massive club. You really get a feel for the size of the club and the resources that are available to you.
“I am delighted to be here, and I look forward to the weeks and months and years ahead.
“I did say to the squad in one of my first meetings that there is no transfer window around the corner. There is nothing going to be happening between now and the summer. It is very much a group of staff and a group of players that we have here available at our disposal right now that we are going to go on and try and finish the season strongly with.
“We have told the players it is a clean slate for everyone. We will pick teams based on training, based on effort, commitment and that is the way we go about things.
“We need to get winning games. We need to get points on the board. But I said on Saturday, I have not inherited a terrible squad of players. I have not inherited a team that is languishing at the bottom of the table. We are in an ok position from a new managers point of view. We are still in touching distance of where we want to be in terms of those European places. That is the drive and the ambition for the players and the staff between now and the end of the season.”
