Nicky Devlin | Celtic Preview

Refresh

Nicky Devlin was the player who spoke to the media this week to preview the cinch Premiership game against Celtic on Sunday.

“I am very much enjoying my time at Aberdeen so far. During the pre-season games, and travelling to England, the support we had at those games was incredible. It is something I have not been used to in my career.

“We know Sunday will be a difficult game.

“But we felt like we let ourselves down a little bit last Saturday at Livingston, and I don’t think we performed anywhere near the levels that we can. We felt that we should have done better all over the park.

“That was disappointing but as I said the good thing about football is you are never too far away from being able to put that right and we have got an opportunity to do that on Sunday. We will go into it with a game plan to try and win the game as that is how the manager sets us up.

“With a full house at Pittodrie and the bit between our teeth, we know that we have to react after last week.

“Our aims for the season, I said recently in an interview, what we have got to aim for is to be better than last year. I think to finish third you are going to need more points than Aberdeen finished on last year.

“There are other areas that the club will admit they should have done better in last year such as the cup competitions. We know that we are not going to win every game but we will be going into matches with that aim every time we play.

“There is a very good spirit amongst the players. There are some boys who have been here for a few years now who are the glue in the dressing room and make everyone feel involved straight away and feel a part of it.

“The quicker the new boys feel comfortable, the better they are going to perform on the park. Having good relationships off the pitch hopefully means that everything on it will then take care of itself.”
