It is very important that we all stick together
The Dons keeper spoke to the press on Friday ahead of the cinch Premiership fixture against Hearts.
“We just need to get points on the board and it is as simple as that. That is what matters in football.
“I think we have it all in the dressing room to do that, which is important. We are confident about tomorrow but do face a very good team so we need to be at the races. If we are, then we know we can reach a high-level of performance as we have done it before. There is no rocket-science to it.
“Everyone wants the same thing and we need to realise that we are all going in the same direction, as that’s when I believe special things can happen. If we can stick together it will make us stronger than before and can give us a platform to go from one level to another.
“It is very important that we all stick together.
“I think we have all at certain times let ourselves and each other down because we have not got the results that we deserved. But that is in the past now and we need to move on. In a couple of weeks time I want to sit here after we have nicked one or two results that we might have not deserved.
“I think it very important to mention that myself and some of the more experienced players have been in dressing rooms before that can become a bit toxic if the hope isn’t there.
“But I think it is a big compliment from me to my teammates that I don’t see any thing like that. I don’t see strikers complaining about defenders or vice-versa. We all have a lot of faith in each other and I think that is very important, because if you don’t have that then it is going to be very hard.
“For me it is amazing to see that in the tough times, you stick together. It is quite easy to do that during the good times but as we all know in life, it is hard to do that when it is tough. Everybody is pulling in the same direction and that is all you can ask for.
“To make it clear I am including all of the staff who are with us on a daily basis too when I talk about the dressing room pulling in the right direction. I see it as a whole.
“It is a very tight group.
“If you break down the times we haven’t performed as a team in the league is a lot different to the times that we haven’t taken a result from games, which is important to take into account.
“But the reality is that we have not been clinical enough in both boxes at the right time in certain games. That can come back to bite you in football and we need to learn to be ‘streetwise’ very quickly.
“Everybody realises that as it is about results.”
