“At the end of the day, you don’t want to be that team that celebrate almost beating someone. It is the wrong attitude to have. We did lose and it hit us on the bus home.

“This is another very big game.

“The boys know that. It is a challenge because you come off such a big fixture at the weekend and put so much into it and everyone is still hungover a bit from the game, thinking about it, fans are still talking about it but you have to completely put it behind you. You have to find a way to reciprocate the energy and fight we put into the game last week and the quality we had. We are more than capable of doing so but Motherwell will coming up here to win.

“Can we take the confidence from the performance into Saturday? I thought we did really well on the ball and showed good composure. We created good chances using Duk and Bojan as an outlet on transition. You hope on Saturday we will be less of a transition side and have more possession, but we will see how the games goes because they are more than capable of having possession too.

“We put a lot into last weekend, but we have no time to breath.

“I know what it felt like when Motherwell were 3-0 up last time they came to Pittodrie. If I start, I would like to last beyond 30 minutes this time. It is always going to be a bit embarrassing getting subbed off like that, and the fact you are not picked to turn it around, but you understand the reasons and I can’t argue with the changes as it worked. I was just happy we got a point in the end.

“For the team we were caught off guard last time we played them. They have a lot of quality, especially with Theo up top who I know well from our academy days back in the US. He always poses a threat. You can’t get caught sleeping against anyone really, they will make you pay and that is what Motherwell did to us.

“It was amazing to see the boys turn it around, but you never want to start 3-0 down. If we can play how we did after 30 minutes, and how we played last weekend, we have a chance of getting the result we need.”
