Defender Slobodan Rubežić has joined FK Novi Pazar on loan until the end of the season.

Slobodan joined the Dons from the Serbian SuperLiga club for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2023, having come through the youth ranks at FK Vojvodina before his first year as a professional with SuperLiga club FK Cukaricki.

“Slobodan’s professionalism and application since our arrival has been exemplary however, he now believes it is the right time for him to return to Serbia in search of regular game time”, said Dons boss Jimmy Thelin.

“We would like to wish him well during his time at his former club.”

The centre-half made his Aberdeen debut in August 2023 against Livingston in the opening day of the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership season and has since made 57 appearances (55 starts) and netted one goal over the two seasons he has been at Pittodrie.

His performances for the Dons earned the 24-year-old a call up to the Montenegro national team for the first time and then he made his debut in a friendly match against Lebanon in October 2023.

Everyone at AFC wishes Rubi all the very best in Serbia.
