Luis ‘Duk’ Lopes has joined La Liga side C.D. Leganés for an undisclosed fee.

The forward joined in the summer of 2022 from Benfica on a three-year deal.

His first season was a huge success, quickly establishing himself as a firm favourite with the fans, netting 18 goals. Some of those strikes proved crucial, particularly towards the end of the campaign, when he helped the side finish third and qualify for European Group stage football.

Although he never managed to hit similar heights of that explosive first campaign in the subsequent seasons, he racked up a total of 113 appearances in Red, scoring 27 goals.

Commenting on the move, Jimmy Thelin said: “Duk has spoken for some time about his desire to try and make the next step in his career. When that happens, I want to ensure all our focus is on the players who can drive Aberdeen towards our objectives.

“His attitude and application since September cannot be faulted and we thank him for his efforts, and of course, for his contribution to the Club over the last 3 years.”

Everyone at Aberdeen Football Club would like to thank Duk for his effort and contribution whilst at Pittodrie and wish him all the best in his future in La Liga.
