Manager Jimmy Thelin sat down with the media on Friday lunchtime ahead of our trip to Celtic Park in the William Hill Premiership. RedTV subscribers can watch in full by clicking here.

“The results speak for themselves (at Celtic Park) over the years but for us the most important thing that we can do and I think the best chance for us to improve and hopefully get a good result, to be as true to ourselves, the identity we try to create and the things we started building here. It’s still a long term process and we try to be better every week and from the last games we try to learn and what we need to improve but also our strengths and what we are really good at. As usual game by game, stay humble, respect the opponent, the strength and weakness and try to perform as we can do as Aberdeen.

“They are going to test us in some areas. They are a really strong team. Every game is a test in different areas and you’re trying to be more consistent in your qualities every game in longer period of times. Hopefully at times we can have some momentum ourselves and try to be what we are good at. I think that’s crucial to get points in these kind of games and also the things we believe in. We train on it every week and try to be better every week. As you can see for yourself, every game they play so far is a small, small difference inside the games but you can still see it’s Aberdeen and hopefully it’s the same tomorrow.

“It’s way too early. I think we have played something like seven games. It’s the eighth game tomorrow and it’s October and then until May and a lot of things can happen. Nothing has changed with how we think about everything. We have a long term project and this season we go game by game and try to be better. We try to create a clear identity, how we train, how we compete, the team spirit. Right now we’re on a good track but still we have to improve on a lot of things and stay humble and a lot of effort. Then we have to try and then try again. That’s where we are right now.

“I think Celtic’s history and what I’ve seen so far this season, it speaks for itself. Football is football and tomorrow is a game, it’s 90 minutes. We have to give everything. Everybody has to come out as the best they can but also that we can show our fans that we believe in what we are doing and stay strong in that. Then give everything we have. That is the idea we have. We have a clear game plan. We know what Celtic are good at and also try to find some weakness and attack them there but also how we need to defend. I think one of the main things tomorrow is how good we are ourselves with the ball.

“Dante Polvara has been back in training, usually at the start of the session. So step by step, he’s on the pitch now with a football. We’re happy to see him there. Hopefully after some more weeks we can see more and more of him involved inside training. I think he has enjoyed it a lot, to be on the pitch with the ball again. I don’t know how many weeks but it’s too early for him (to return to action.)”
