Author AFC Media Team

We can now provide supporters with an update on our women’s squad going forward.

We are saying goodbye to captain Nadine Hanssen, Adele Lindbaek and Keeley Banfield.

Bayley Hutchison, who was the SWPL’s top goalscorer last season, departs having decided to pursue a full-time opportunity and despite strong efforts from the Club to persuade her to stay.

Likewise, Eilidh Shore and Jessica Broadrick will also depart. Both were made several offers but they have opted to move on.

All three have been mainstays of the side since the Aberdeen FC Women’s team started in 2019 in the SWFL Division 1 North. After back-to-back promotions they helped the side in recent seasons consolidate their position in the top division

Eilidh made 145 appearances, scoring an impressive 47 goals from midfield. On 6th May 2022, she became one of the first five players to sign for the Club on semi-professional terms. The midfielder, who was recently capped by Scotland at U23 level, has been named the AFC Women Players’ Player of the Year for the past four seasons.

Jess joined AFC Women from AFC Ladies’ U19s National Performance League team in July 2019. The defender has represented Scotland at Youth National Team level up to U19 level and has captained her country. On 6th May 2022, Jess also became one of the first players to sign for the Club. The defender made 124 appearances, scoring eight goals.

Bayley proved to be a prolific goalscorer from the beginning of the AFC Women adventure. Again, one of the first players to sign a semi-professional contract, the striker scored an incredible 118 goals in 141 appearances. Last season’s AFC Women’s Player of the Year has also played for her country at youth level.

Emma Lawson will be moving to Edinburgh to continue her studies and will leave the Club.

The club remain in discussions with Francesca Ogilvie, Lois Edwards and Jen Currie about new contracts at Pittodrie.

Hannah Innes and Eva Thomson both penned extended contracts with the Club recently, with Eva remaining at the Dons until 2026 and Hannah signing her first semi-professional contract on a deal until 2025.

We would like to thank each and every player leaving the club for their effort and contributions whilst with Aberdeen and wish them all every success in their future careers.
