This Saturday Pittodrie will pay to tribute to Duncan ‘Punk’ Clark, a well known Beachender and face among the Dons support, who sadly recently passed away.

Following his passing, a group of Dons supporters led by Andy Forbes, quickly set up a fundraising effort for a Tifo tribute in his honour and thanks to the generosity of the support the target was quickly reached meaning a large banner will be displayed in the Richard Donald Stand this Saturday ahead of our match with St Johnstone.

The legacy Duncan has created is summarised by the following tribute message from those behind organising the display on Saturday.

Duncan (PUNK) Clark | A Tribute from the Red Army

Duncan will be a face and a voice that many fans will recognise and was renowned for being the Leader of the Beach End.

Those who were fortunate enough to be a Beachender during the ‘70s and ‘80s era of Aberdeen FC will most likely have seen ‘Punk’ on the terraces.

He was instantly recognisable with his long wavy hair and tache and his uniform of a faded denim jacket clarted in AFC badges, home top, AFC scarves around both wrists, and a Dons hat to top things off.

He was always in the centre of the Beach End towards the back with a couple of mates, but if you didn’t see him, you most certainly will have heard him – standing up and bellowing out like a foghorn, ‘Give us an AAA…’ along with many other Dons songs. He started all the singing in those days and was an idol for many of us. If you didn’t join in, he’d let you know about it!

When ‘the left side’ started up in the early 1980s a lot of younger fans defected to there, which started up a healthy rivalry between ‘the centre’ and ‘the left side’, with taunts flying back and forth.

The left side was the more rebellious and the chant of ‘You’re only soft centre chocolates!’ was often aimed at Punk & Co, but he remained loyal to the centre of his beloved Beach End.

His passion and dedication was inspirational and his presence at Pittodrie for every game until recently will be very sadly missed.

There will be a special tifo display in tribute to Punk before the game on Saturday.

Our thoughts are with his son Kevin and his family.

Rest in Peace Punk. Gone but certainly never forgotten.
