Aberdeen Football Club Appoints First Supporter Experience Manager
Aberdeen Football Club is pleased to announce that Stephen McCormick will be joining the club as our first ever Supporter Experience Manager from January 2024.
In this newly created role, Stephen will be primarily tasked with making every matchday at Pittodrie an event, building on the progress that has been made in recent years to grow attendances and season ticket numbers, with a particular focus on attracting new fans and the next generation to our home.
The club has set the aim of growing from 11,000 fan season tickets, a club record, to 13,500 by 2025/26 and the addition of this role comes as part of an ongoing commitment to investment in supporter engagement, following on from the introduction of initiatives like AberDNA Junior and the Red Shed in recent years.
Stephen, who was the founding member of the Red Ultras, has led the delivery of the most iconic Aberdeen displays at Pittodrie and further afield, most notably turning Parkhead into ParkRED for the League Cup Final in 2014.
McCormick turned his passion into a career in 2017, joining the leading supplier of Tifo materials throughout Europe, Supporters Art, and has subsequently worked with some of the biggest clubs in the world to add colour and improve their matchday experience.
Stephen has also built strong relationships with supporters groups throughout the UK and aided their development and growth over the past decade and that experience will be critical in the role of Supporter Experience Manager.
During this time Stephen has maintained a relationship with AFC, helping to co-ordinate tributes to Neale Cooper, Sir Alex Ferguson and the Gothenburg Greats. McCormick was also an influential figure in establishing the Red Shed which has played a key role in improving the matchday experience at Pittodrie since its introduction in early 2020.
We look forward to welcoming Stephen to Pittodrie in January.
