The Manager Post-Match
Barry Robson was blunt in his assessment of Aberdeen’s 1-0 defeat at home to Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening.
“We weren’t good enough in either box. We had a lot of possession without threatening too much, but they’re a difficult team to play against. The systems matched up ,so we changed it second half, we tried to get 2-v-1 down the sides, we got a bit of a spark from that.
“But when you play a game with lots of possession but no cutting edge, if you’re not going to win, make sure you don’t lose. Unfortunately, somebody sticks one in the top corner for them, but we still need to defend that better. There’s no excuses, we need to start picking points up.
“The fans were frustrated at the end and rightly so, they want the team up the league, I understand that. The only way you can react to that is by winning games and we’re going to try and do that by beating Hearts in a hard game on Saturday. We’ll be ready for it.
“The players are working really hard, things aren’t going their way but in those situations, you stand up and fight, you don’t feel sorry for yourself and you go and perform as well as you can and turn it round. That’s how football is, you can be working as hard as you can, but sometimes things don’t go for you. But you keep going and you come out the other side of it, I’ve been through it many times.”
