Dons launch Craig Brown Memorial Trophy U14 Tournament

Aberdeen Football Club and Partners Unite to Honour the Legacy of Craig Brown CBE

Aberdeen Football Club is pleased to announce details of the inaugural Craig Brown Memorial Trophy U14 Tournament which will honour former Dons Manager, Director and Ambassador, Craig Brown CBE.

The tournament, set to take place at Cormack Park, the club’s state-of-the-art training facility is scheduled for the 14th and 15th October 2023, and will provide a platform for the club to recognise and pay tribute to the enduring impact of Craig who was a passionate advocate for youth football.

Craig Brown, a true luminary in the world of football management, left an indelible mark on Scottish football. Over his illustrious career, he became known for his unwavering commitment to the beautiful game and his ability to inspire excellence both on and off the pitch. As a manager, he brought his immense expertise to bear at Aberdeen FC and most notably the Scottish national team, leading them to the unforgettable moments of qualification for Euro 96 and the World Cup in 1998.

His dedication to nurturing young talent and fostering a winning team spirit served as an inspiration for aspiring footballers throughout the country.

Aberdeen FC, in collaboration with local business partners, have established this tournament to celebrate not only the memory of Craig Brown but also the vibrant spirit of youth football.

The tournament has been made possible thanks to the generosity of tournament sponsors, RAM Tubulars and ESWL, along with the support of local businesses Fowler McKenzie, Central Coaches, and Cala Homes.

The tournament will feature an exciting 11-a-side format, bringing together U14 teams from some of the most renowned football clubs in the world. Aberdeen Under 14s will face off against their counterparts from Dundee, Motherwell, Rangers, Preston, Manchester United, Cliftonville, and Bohemians, promising thrilling matches and showcasing the immense talent within the U14 age group.

AFC Youth Academy Director, Gav Levey said: “This event goes beyond competition; it represents the enduring legacy of Craig Brown and his tireless dedication to the development of football in Scotland. Craig’s positive influence on the Scottish game continues to inspire future generations, and the Craig Brown Memorial Trophy embodies his commitment to the sport he loved.

The Craig Brown Memorial Trophy U14 Tournament will be an all-ticket event and full details will be released in due course.
