"I’ve enjoyed playing at Pittodrie, the fans are fantastic"
Second consecutive Pittodrie win puts the Dons back in the top six
Angus MacDonald was pleased with a second consecutive Pittodrie win that puts the Dons back in the top six.
“I’ve enjoyed playing at Pittodrie, the fans are fantastic, they get right behind the players. We needed that because it was a tough afternoon. Livingston are good at what they do, but we stuck to the task. Three points was what we wanted and we got there in the end.
“Everyone dug in, and I was pleased I could help out by getting back and heading that one off the line. We would have liked a couple more goals to make life more comfortable at the end, but the big thing is we got the result.
“It’s funny, a 1-0 in where you’ve had to hold it together right to the last minute, can be a bigger thing for confidence than a 4-0 win sometimes. Getting it over the line is a big thing, and keeping that first clean sheet since I’ve come here is a real boost as well. I think me and Mattie are getting to understand each other and are bonding better as time goes on. We know the task at hand, we were conceding too many goals before so we’ve come in to try and steady the ship.
“It was good to play with Ross McCrorie, he had a good game. We only had a short time on the pitch against St Mirren. And when he went down injured after seven minutes, I thought, oh no! Ross is a very good player.
“Getting back in the top six makes the table look better, but now the test is to go on a run from here to cement that place and to start moving higher. All the players in there want a successful end to the season, we’re all aiming to get in the European places. It’s in our hands and that’s what we are focused on.
“The lads have taken to the manger really well, we’re working really hard on the training field, we’re picking up a few results with two wins in three games, so long may that continue. He’s got a presence about him, we know who’s in charge and we all want to do what’s asked of us.”
