Match Preview | Aberdeen Women v Hibernian Women
Aberdeen Women return to action this Sunday (11th September) when they host Hibernian at the Balmoral Stadium. The Dons return to action after sitting out last weekend due to international call ups. Despite losing out to Glasgow City in their last match, The Dons will take a lot of heart from their performance after narrowly losing out 2-1 to their full-time counterparts.

“In our last match a fortnight ago we travelled to face former champions Glasgow City at Petershill. City had already scored seven in two of their three matches so far so we knew it would be a tough game. The team were excellent on the day and the girls deserved to take something from the game that they lost 2-1.
“It was an excellent showing against a really top team in the form of City and despite not taking any points, we’ve taken a huge amount from the game in terms of confidence and belief.
“Hibernian probably haven’t had the start to the season that they would’ve hoped for either. They have taken in a lot of new signings and I think it has been well documented from Dean that they’re still trying to find their feet as a team. You can see that they are getting there though and they are team that can be very good on their day. They have a good squad full of quality players so we will have to go into the game showing the same qualities that we showed against Glasgow City in terms of our belief and work rate to get something from the game.
“We’ve had five of our players away on Scotland duty over the international break. Annalisa McCann, Mya Christie, Millie Urquhart, Brodie Greenwood and Madison Finnie were all called up to the Scotland under-19s squad for their games against Hungary and Slovakia. It was great to see five of our players getting called up and it is a sign of how good our young squad is that five were called up and that four of the five have played for us so far this season.” – Co-manager Gavin Beith.

“We knew coming into the season that it was going to take time. We were working on a new formation and we also had new faces so they need time to settle. We said at the start if things don’t go our way we’re not going to panic and we’ll just keep going and do what we’re training to do and it will start clicking.
“I think you saw that against Glasgow City. We attacked and defended as a unit in that game and we were playing a lot better and more confidently. I think you’ve seen in all of our games there have been spells where we showed our qualities and what we’ve been trying to do. It’s just a case of putting it all together and for longer spells in games and the points will come.” – Striker Hannah Stewart
