Davie Robb set for Hall of Fame induction
After an enforced absence due to COVID we are excited to announce that the AFC Hall of Fame dinner will return for 2022 as we induct some more Dons legends on Wednesday 23rd November at The Chester Hotel.
In the 2019 edition of the Hall of Fame, Theo Snelders, David Halliday, Doug Rougvie, Eric Black, Gordon Strachan and Mark McGhee were inducted and this time round four more AFC greats will join them.
We can now confirm that ‘70s cult hero Davie Robb will be inducted posthumously and will be the fourth and final inductee for 2022 joining Duncan Shearer, Dougie Bell and Russell Anderson in the class of 2022.
Affectionately known as ‘The Brush’ by Dons supporters, Robb was a firm favourite at Pittodrie, making 345 appearances and scoring 98 goals between 1967 and 1978.
Davie was the embodiment of the cult hero, a footballer who played the game the way the supporters would if only they were allowed off the terraces and onto the park. Robb gave everything to the game and was an entertainer too, whether he had the ball at his feet, or an opponent by the scruff of the neck.
Under the leadership of Eddie Turnbull, Robb established himself as a regular in the side and played his part as Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup in 1970. International recognition soon followed too, making 5 appearances for Scotland during 1971.
His most memorable moment in red would come in 1976 as he picked up his second trophy, scoring the winning goal in the League Cup Final victory over Celtic.
A larger than life character, with the talent to back it up, Davie Robb will forever be an Aberdeen legend and now will posthumously be inducted to the Hall of Fame following his passing this summer at the age of 74.
The evening will yet again be a memorable occasion for Dons supporters, sponsors and partners alike, including a 3 course meal with wine included and a Q & A session with our inductees. Places for the event are priced at £119+VAT per person
