After an enforced absence due to COVID we are excited to announce that the AFC Hall of Fame dinner will return for 2022 as we induct some more Dons legends on Wednesday 23^rd November at The Chester Hotel.

In the 2019 edition of the Hall of Fame, Theo Snelders, David Halliday, Doug Rougvie, Eric Black, Gordon Strachan and Mark McGhee were inducted and this time round four more AFC greats will join them.

In the past week we have announced that Duncan Shearer and Dougie Bell will be inducted this year and we can now reveal that 2014 League Cup winning captain Russell Anderson will join them!

Born in Aberdeen, Russell fulfilled the dreams of all Dons supporters by going on to play for the side he supported, making his debut in 1997 before going on to make 407 appearances over two spells at Pittodrie scoring 21 goals.

Despite receiving a long term injury in 2000 which ruled him out of the Scottish Cup Final that year, Anderson quickly re-established himself at the heart of the Aberdeen defence and was named captain under Steve Paterson before earning a testimonial in 2006.

His form in the early ‘00s led to international recognition, earning 11 caps for Scotland, and ultimately led to a move to English Premier League side Sunderland for a club record sale of £1m in the summer of 2007.

After 4 years south of the border Russell returned to Pittodrie under Craig Brown and would go on to play a key role as Derek McInnes re-established the Dons as one of the leading sides in the country.

Fittingly before his retirement at the end of the 2014-15 season Anderson captained his boyhood club to silverware as Aberdeen won the 2014 League Cup.

Over the next week, we will be announcing the final AFC great who will be inducted on the night alongside Anderson, Shearer and Bell.

The evening will yet again be a memorable occasion for Dons supporters, sponsors and partners alike, including a 3 course meal with wine included and a Q & A session with our inductees. Places for the event are priced at £119+VAT per person
