Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson made his first start for Scotland on Wednesday night against Austria in Vienna, winning his third cap in the international friendly.

Lewis played for 77 minutes before being replaced by Billy Gilmour. The match finished 2-2, Henry and McGinn putting the Scots two up before Gregoritsch and Schopf netted for the hosts. The result extends Scotland’s unbeaten run to eight games.

After the match Lewis spoke to the SFA Media team:

“I was obviously delighted to start the game. I am so proud to represent my country and to start a game is very special.

“I just found out when we had our team meeting on the afternoon of the match. I was really looking forward to the game once the manager let me know.

“It was a tough game.

“We played pretty well in the first half.

“We were maybe a bit sloppy at times and never kept it as much as we have liked to, and it is disappointing in the end to concede the equaliser but overall, I am pretty pleased.

“The two games have been good. All the boys like getting together. There is a real buzz about the place at the moment. Everyone is really positive and we have a good unbeaten run going.

“All the camps I have been involved in have been great. Everyone likes coming away and working together.

“It is a really tight group and everyone gets on well. Everyone looks forward to coming away with Scotland. It has been really positive.

“The Scotland fans were great, very loud throughout. So a big thank you to them.”
