Reaction from the Dressing Room

David was the player who spoke to the press after the game.

“All the boys in the dressing room are very disappointed, and rightly so.

“We did not really play in the first 20 minutes, we let them dictate the game too much and we went 1-0 down. It was the same really at the start of the second half when it was still 1-1. We started playing when we were 2-1 down.

“We can play better that we did in those periods of the game.

“We did show that we can play, that is one of the positives we can take, but we need to do that through the whole game.

“In the second half, we did not create enough and towards the end we needed to put the ball in the box more. We did not pose enough of a threat to be honest, apart from Lewis Ferguson’s header.

“We showed at Ibrox, and in spells here as well, that we can play well away from home at tough venues. We did it at home against Hearts and Hibs.

“We showed that we have the ability and the players to do it. It is just about trying to do it over the full 90 minutes. Celtic will always have spells when they are on top, they are a good side and move it well. We knew that was going to be the case.

“Celtic have some good players, their movement is good but I thought we handled the forward players quite well. We kept them fairly quiet.

“The winner was very frustrating. Joe has pulled off a great save ad it was a wicked deflection. One time in a hundred it goes in, unfortunately with our luck at the moment, that one time was today.”

The performance of the central defender was certainly one of the positives to take from the game, and David feels that he is getting back to his best form.

“I feel like I am coming along. It was a while since I had played before I cane here. I did not have a pre-season and did not play any pre-season games. I was straight into it and it was quite hard at first when I came into the team, trying to adjust. I feel like I am coming onto my game a bit more now.

“I felt my performance was quite good but we did not get a result. That is all that matters.

“We have had a lot of injuries and players missing at the back which has meant a lot of changes and that has even meant Scott Brown moving into a back three. Hopefully we can get everyone back before too much longer and that will help us kick on.”

As we move into December the league table does not make for great reading at the moment for Aberdeen fans, but with seven games between now and the winter break, there are a lot of points available.

“We said after the game in the dressing room, we have some big matches coming up, they are coming thick and fast starting with Livingston on Wednesday.

“We need to focus on ourselves. Our form has dipped since the good results against Rangers, Hibs and Hearts. We are frustrated with ourselves for letting that happen. We know we can be better, and we should be further up the table, but we need to start showing it on the pitch.

“Against Livingston we need to go out and dictate the game and show our stuff right from the word go.”
