Matty Kennedy produced an impressive display for the Dons on his return to St Johnstone tonight but like everyone else in red, he was left ultimately frustrated by the goalless draw.

“I thought we dominated the game, especially the first half, and we created a few chances that we didn’t take unfortunately. There were a lot of good performances, but it was just that final bit we were missing.

“Zander Clark made a good save from me in the second half, but maybe I should have got it more in the corner. On another day though, that goes in, and that’s how it’s been going for us. I think that we’ve been missing a bit of luck in front of goal in a few games this season.

“There have been a number of games where we’ve played well and been the better team but haven’t scored the goals we should and that’s been frustrating. Sam and Hedgey might have had a couple of goals tonight as well, but that’s the way things have been running for us lately.

“It wasn’t to be tonight but hopefully that changes soon. All we can do is keep producing good performances and the goals will come. Winning five or six doesn’t matter, 1-0 is fine, you still get the same three points.

“We’ve got a lot of attacking players on the pitch, me and Jonny as wing-backs are very attack minded, so it isn’t from a lack of intent that the goals haven’t come as often as we’d want. The gaffer wants a lot of attacking players in the park, so you’ve got Hedgey and Scott in number 10 roles supporting Sam, but the final ball and the final shot aren’t coming off for us at the moment. That’ll turn if we keep playing the way we are.”
