Young Aberdeen fans are being given the opportunity to become part of the first team squad for the remainder of the 20/21 season as part of an Aberdeen Football Club competition.

By signing-up for the Dons’ free under-12 membership, AberDNA Junior, youngsters are guaranteed two free tickets when fans are allowed to return to Pittodrie.

Thanks to this latest competition, they will also have the opportunity to win one of two squad numbers up for grabs in the January transfer window. Two Junior members, one boy and one girl, will be selected at random to win and will be presented with their own shirt and squad number at a signing ceremony in January, their names will then be displayed alongside the first team squad for the remainder of the season!

But that is not all, members can also win an Adidas football for themselves as well as all their fellow school pupils. Each AberDNA Junior member will have the opportunity to register their school to win prizesl Each registration will count as one entry for that school meaning that even the smallest schools still have an opportunity to win!

The competitions, which are open for both new and existing members, will run for 7 weeks with the winning school and members set to be selected week commencing 14^th of December.

Launched in March of this year, AberDNA junior now has over 4,500 members from all corners of the globe. Each member will be invited to Pittodrie to ceremonially ‘Sign for The Dons’ when it is safe to do so, in addition to being able to enjoy two matches at Pittodrie as part of their membership.

Junior members will also be issued a welcome pack which includes a limited-edition collectable card featuring our #1 and Club Captain, Joe Lewis. A second limited edition collectible card, featuring Ross McCrorie, has also just been made available.

Rob Wicks, commercial director of AFC, said: “This is a really important initiative for the Club, helping to build our future fanbase. We want to reach out into the community, inspire the next generation and give them something to look forward to when the worst of the pandemic is over.

“I would encourage everyone to get their young family members signed-up. They can win Adidas footballs for their fellow pupils but also the unique opportunity to get a place in the first team squad, which is not something that comes along very often! Who knows they might get a taste for football and make their debut just a few years from now?”
