Gothenburg Day 2020 – Celebrate with us!
On Monday 11th May Aberdeen FC & Aberdeen FC Community Trust are encouraging all Dons supporters to come together to celebrate the anniversary of our greatest ever triumph, the 2-1 1983 Cup Winners Cup Final victory over Real Madrid in Gothenburg.
Supporters are encouraged to mark the day by sharing pictures in kit or with other pieces of memorabilia on social media using the #StillStandingFree. Every supporter who uploads a picture using the hashtag to Twitter or Instagram will be in with a chance of winning a new 20/21 home shirt when it is released.
The Red Army should also look out for quizzes and additional Gothenburg themed content on the day, with a special screening of the match itself on RedTV along with interviews with former players offering their perspective on the unforgettable occasion. Full details will be posted in the next couple of days.
To help reminisce and spread some cheer during these challenging times we are also looking for fans to get in touch if they have any particularly fond memories of the trip, pictures to share from the night itself or the famous voyage across the North Sea on the St Clair!
The best stories, video and images will then be shared across our social media channels and RedTV on Monday 11th. Let us know your story via e-mail marketing@afc.co.uk
As part of the ongoing #StillStandingFree campaign being delivered by our partner charity Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) we encourage fans to consider making a donation on the day as we look to continue work to provide essential supplies to families throughout the North-East and our calling campaign to support fans most at risk of social isolation.
