Pittodrie's Greatest Night | Your Stories
Monday 16th March saw the 37th anniversary of Pittodrie’s greatest ever night, our famous 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the run to our European Cup Winners Cup success.
Last night we asked Dons fans on social media to share with us their memories of that incredible night when Pittodrie went ‘berserk.’
You can watch the ‘Pittodrie’s Greatest Night’ documentary- which includes the full 90 minutes- on RedTV now- please click here to watch.
Was in the old beach end. Fella beside me stormed out when Bayern went 2-1 up. I reckon he was probably halfway to the beach esplanade when McLeish scored…

Never forget that night!!!! That minute between big Eck scoring and then John Hewitt was the most electric feeling I've ever had. You could touch the excitement.

Every part of the ground on their feet, singing for the last 10 minutes!

Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane. Boy that was a fantastic atmosphere and you really couldn’t believe it that we came back to win 3-2 ❤️

Was in the Beach End, my Dad only got 1 ticket so I went in with one of his workmates. Still remember the ships all sounding there horns and as we walked across the links with many delirious dandies. Best 9th birthday present a boy could wish for.

12yo, in The Paddock on my own. About 6 rows from the front. Was almost on the pitch when Johnny Hewitt’s “shot” hit the back of the net. Will never forget that moment for as long as I live! ⚪️

Was there with my old man in the beach end. As a 10yr it was something that will always stay with me. I even got to stay up and the highlights on the tv when we got home

Standing on the seat, leaning against the pillar at the back of section S so I could see. When Hewitt scores…. being lifted up by the fella behind me and going ballistic
Sorry, the seat broke…— Oswald_the_frisky (@Oswaldthefrisky) March 16, 2020
Never be a night like it ever again

It was an incredible night, never known an atmosphere like it.

Was in Section Y that night with my late father. He disappeared in the celebrations after the equaliser and reappeared like magic next to me after the winner. It was pandemonium in there that night during that few minutes. Best ever for me in our old stadium in my lifetime!

If I could go back in time to one game it would be this one. Living in Fife we mainly went to the away games and listened to this on my tranny. It must have been a great game to actually be at. We got up for the Semi Final though but that was over in the first 5 minutes I think!
