This Saturday we get set for an annual celebration of all things Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) as Aberdeen welcome Ross County to Pittodrie for AFCCT Day.

This fixture, now in its 4th season, will take on additional significance with the club and AFCCT winning Best Professional Club earlier this season in the prestigious 2019 UEFA Grassroots Awards.

In recognition of our partner charity’s success off the field a celebratory logo has been put together, featuring two stars as a nod to the two major European accolades that they have received in their short history!

AFCCT was established in 2014 as Aberdeen FC’s partner charity with the aim of providing support and opportunity throughout the North-East and quickly set about making a difference in the local community.

Focusing on three key pillars, the Community Trust delivers content to better Healthy Communities through innovative programmes in support of health and wellbeing within all age groups in the community, our Football For Life theme aims to provide football activities across all age groups and our Education theme provides innovative education programmes to harness the potential for all.

In 2017, AFC and AFCCT were awarded the Best Community & Social Responsibility Programme award by the European Club Association for the innovative Dementia Friendly Wellbeing initiative which significantly supported those affected by dementia by encouraging and prompting the integration of those diagnosed in local community activities.

That recognition was followed by the announcement in late 2019 that AFC and AFCCT had been named as Best Professional Club in the community for the whole of Europe at the UEFA Grassroots Awards. An award that coincided with the publication of the Trust’s 1st ever impact report, outlining the key contributions that were being made to society, with a £10 return to society for every £1 invested. Dons supporters should look out for the logo being used over the next few months throughout the stadium and online in support of AFCCT’s existing logo, to highlight the continental recognition that our partner charity has received.

Over 1000 tickets have been distributed throughout the community with over 40 groups set to attend this Saturday for the visit of Ross County as we look to share the success with the community which has supported this club so well.

There is still time to join them! All U18 tickets are just £1 and are available to book now online via afc.co.uk/eTickets, from the Pittodrie Ticket Office or by calling 01224 63 1903.
