It was amazing to be part of the 2,000+ supporters in the Merkland Stand!
As many of you will be aware, the Merkland Stand was trialled as a traditional ‘home end’ for our Scottish Cup match against Dumbarton as part of an effort to recreate the atmosphere enjoyed by all at away matches throughout the country.
The initiative, which is one of many plans to improve the matchday experience at Pittodrie was viewed as a resounding success with over 2,000 supporters enjoying the match from the Merkland Stand and generating a level of support for the team which hasn’t been seen at home for a number of years.
When asked about the trial Lynn said, “Thank you all for your support on Saturday and in particular the backing of the Red Shed. It was amazing to be part of the 2,000+ supporters in the Merkland Stand for the match!
“After discussions today I can report that everyone at the club sees the initial trial as a success and we are looking into the possibility of doing it all again for our Scottish Cup Fifth Round tie with Kilmarnock. Details will follow when the kick-off time and ticket prices are confirmed.
“Thanks again for your support, I hope to see as many of you as possible back at Pittodrie on Wednesday night for our vital match with Motherwell – let’s make sure we keep the momentum going by bringing flags, colour, noise and energy on the night, especially if you’re sitting in sections S and T.”
Normal ground regulations apply, all flags must be flame retardant and flag poles a maximum height of 1.2 metres.
Tickets for Wednesday night’s match with Motherwell are available from the Pittodrie Ticket Office, over the phone by calling 01224 63 1903 or online now!
Supporters should note that our normal ground regulations apply for all matches, these can be found here. The ground regulations prohibit the use of pyrotechnic devices or flares which have been high profile at a number of recent matches in Scotland. As ever we ask that supporters respect their fellow fans and continue to make Pittodrie a welcoming environment for all.
