Club & Trust spread festive cheer at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital
The Dons players- led by captain Joe Lewis- made their annual trip to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital as they spread some festive cheer to the children ahead of Christmas.
The annual hospital visit is always a highlight on the players calendar and with less than ten days to go until the big day the players were on hand to distribute gifts donated by the players and the club, spending time with the children and their families as well as posing for photos and signing merchandise.
On the visit Joe said “It’s always nice to come up and visit the kids especially at this time of year. It really puts things into perspective when you see how others may be suffering and the impact it has on their families. Hopefully we’ve managed to give them something to cheer about and they can enjoy their Christmas.”
Even some of the hospital staff were able to catch the boys for a few photos with all sending their best wishes to the team ahead of the upcoming matches.
Earlier in the month our colleagues from Aberdeen FC’s Community Trust (AFCCT) also donated 30 gifts to the patients using funds raised at the Trust’s Business Lunch event held at The Chester
Hotel in October.
AFCCT mascot Donny the Sheep was on hand, alongside AFCCT staff, to provide thee children with gifts which included Angus the Bull cuddly toys, AFC board games, mini balls and AFC Santa hats.
AFCCT’s fundraising and business development co‐ordinator, Debra Christie said: “Being in hospital at Christmas can be challenging, especially for young children, so we wanted to do something to bring festive joy to the patients and families visiting Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital this year.
“We’d like to thank each of our guests who attended our recent Business Lunch for their generosity which has allowed us to make this donation.”
Thanks once again to all the staff at the children’s hospital and we hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
