The Dons players led by captain Graeme Shinnie took a trip Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for their annual visit to spread some festive cheer to the kids ahead of Christmas.

Fresh off their 5-1 victory over Dundee on Tuesday night nine members of the first team went up to Forresterhill on their recovery day to hand out gifts donated by the players and were able to speak with the children and their families as well as posed for photos and sign merchandise.

The annual hospital visit is always a highlight on the players calendar and with less than a week to go until the big day it was great to see so many happy children put on a brave face with some not able to make it home for Christmas.

The team guided along by the nurses were shown into a number of wards visiting new born babies right up to 15 year olds. There were a number of Dons fans across the two floors and they were happy to meet the players and even the ones who weren’t supporters were still grateful of the visit.

On the visit Graeme Shinnie said “It’s always nice to come up and visit the kids especially at this time of year. It really puts it into perspective when you see them and you think of your own family. Hopefully we’ve managed to give them something to cheer about and they can enjoy their Christmas.”

Even some of the staff were able to catch the boys for a few photos with all sending their best wishes to the team ahead of the upcoming matches.

Thanks once again to all the staff at the children’s hospital and we hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
