The club is deeply shocked and saddened to hear Neale Cooper has tragically passed away.

A Dons legend, Neale came through the ranks at Pittodrie during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign and he lifted the European Cup Winners’ Cup and European Super Cup with his Gothenburg Greats in 1983.

He also won two Premier Division titles, four Scottish Cups and the League Cup with Aberdeen.

Throughout his career Neale also played for Rangers, Dunfermline and Ross County in Scotland, as well as turning out for Aston Villa and Reading south of the border.

Following his retirement from playing, Neale became a manager, starting his career in the dugout with Ross County before he went on to manage Peterhead, Hartlepool United twice & Gillingham.

The thoughts of everybody at Aberdeen FC are with his family and friends at this very sad time.
