“I thought for 60/65 minutes we actually played some good stuff going forward.

“I thought on the turnover of possession we were a bit vulnerable at times and that proved the case.

“We were hanging on by our fingertips towards the end and Archie had to make a couple of good saves, but the first part of the game was pleasing. I was pleased with some of our play and we passed it as well as we have done for a while, which was encouraging. We got into good forward areas for Bruce Anderson, David Dangana and Chris Antoniazzi to go and affect the game and I thought the three of them done that relatively well, especially the first half and the early part of the second.

“It was a case of asking questions of their back lot and at times we could have turned them a wee bit earlier. When they did it two or three times the second half we looked like we could get up the park a bit quicker. It was just a long punt (for the goal) which we don’t really like to see, but Dean was quick to react and got on top of the next ball and we got the joy for that.

“Game management comes into it when you go 2-1 up and I took a bit of responsibility for that. I could maybe have dropped Miko a bit deeper, but I did think our forward play was worthy of keeping the front ones up the pitch. In terms of the last 20 minutes we have to manage it and we went a bit deep. They asked more questions of us and we struggled to deal with them in fairness.

“I thought Dean Campbell was excellent for the bulk of the early part that I spoke about in driving us forward and getting us up the game. He was creative in his play and showed good composure. He broke forward and whips in a cross that was maybe a bit fortunate the way it falls for Miko and he takes full advantage.

“Bruce was really good today. I had a good chat with him last week about putting himself about a bit more and he looked busier throughout, which he needs to bring to his game. He needs to do a wee bit more off the ball and I thought for the bulk of the game he done that today. His touch was excellent more often than not and looked a threat when we got up to him.

“Jack Mackenzie did well. He played 90 minutes on Sunday as well for the U17s, so it was a shift for him to come into the team today. Jack’s been a bit transitional this year and in terms of his physically he needs to fill out a bit more and grow, which he’s been doing this year. He’s been getting stronger in the gym, but his football has always been with the 17’s so we’ve got him for these last couple of games to see how he does. Going forward he was great. A couple of times defensively he was maybe a bit too eager to get forward, which we spoke to him about, but he’s a bright boy and will pick up on that.

“We’ve still to make decisions on players, which we’ll make at the tail end of this week. It’s dragged on a wee bit longer than we would probably have liked, but it’s because of the change in circumstances going into a reserve and U18 league next season. We’re also looking at the manager’s squad a bit to see what he does in terms of his work.”
