Aberdeen Football Club has agreed in principle for Chidi Nwakali to join the club on loan from Manchester City, subject to a work permit.

The 21-year-old Nigerian midfielder, who recently had a loan spell with Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball, will join the Dons until the end of the season.

Derek McInnes had this to say:

“Manchester City have been very keen for Chidi to get some competitive game time and it’s a deal we’ve been working on for a couple of months now, so I am delighted to welcome Chidi to the club.

“I’m sure he will be a positive addition to our squad.”

Chidi is hoping to force his way in to the Nigerian World Cup squad, which could mean he would come up against fellow Don, Kari Arnason, who hopes to be in the Icelandic team.

Chidi has joined the squad in Dubai.
