Young Don joins The Sons

04 August 2016

Daniel Harvie has today joined Dumbarton on a development loan until the end of January.

The left side defender, who signed a new deal with the Dons last season, helped his Aberdeen U20 side beat Formartine 5-2 last night in the Irn-Bru Cup but will now join up Stephen Aitken’s Championship side immediately. (subject to his clearance coming through). He could be involved in their Ladbrokes Championship opener on Saturday against Dunfermline Athletic.

Danny has been in the AFC system from 10 years of age and the left back is one of the last graduates from the Glasgow Centre. The 18-year-old was part of the Scotland squad which won the Sky Sports Victory Shield in 2014 and has since went on to be called up to the U19 national side.

He then made his Dons U20 debut in a victory against Celtic in October 2015 before helping them go on and win the SPFL Development League that season.

Daniel was included in numerous first team squads last season and made his deserved first team debut against Partick Thistle in February 2016.

Danny has become the sixth Aberdeen player this season to go out on loan, and the fifth who will be playing in the Championship. Also on loan are Danny Rogers (Falkirk), Aaron Lennox (Raith Rovers), Cammy Smith (Dundee United), Lawrence Shankland (St Mirren) and Robbie Mutch (Arbroath),

Everyone wishes Danny well during his spell at Dumbarton.
