Miles Storey officially joins Aberdeen
Miles Storey officially became an Aberdeen player today. The striker has signed a two-year deal.
After completing his paperwork and meeting his new team mates for the first time, the 22-year-old spoke to RedTV:
“It’s has obviously been a bit strange the last month or so. I was on my holidays and waiting to come back with the lads, but for whatever reason that hasn’t happened. I had my first session today and got that under my belt and hopefully I can catch up with the boys in terms of fitness and sharpness over the next couple of weeks.
“One of the reasons I was interested in coming to Aberdeen was to play European football. Hopefully the lads do well in the second leg next Thursday and we can get through to the next round. Then hopefully I am ready to be involved.
“One of the big reasons I am here is because of the manager. That was a major factor. We had a long chat today about football and at the end he asked if I had any questions and I had nothing left to say, it was spot on!
“All the plans he has in terms of style of football and the way the club is moving forward with the new training facilities and stadium are very exciting. Obviously I knew that Aberdeen is a huge club and it is a great opportunity for me to take my career to the next stage.
“I was at Inverness last year and I was really impressed with the league. I think it’s a really competitive league and I was always looking at Aberdeen challenging Celtic and hopefully we can go one better this year. Rangers are in there now and Hearts are also a good competitive team amongst all the others. I always wanted to stay in Scotland. You get more exposure and it is of a better standard than the lower leagues in England.
“I really enjoyed Inverness. I can’t speak highly enough of the place. They really gave me an opportunity. It didn’t work out for me at the places where I’ve been on loan before but Inverness gave me a chance and I’m really thankful to them for that.”
“As a player I would describe myself as dynamic. I like to get in behind. If the midfielders pick the ball up in a deep area, I’m looking to peel off the shoulder of the defender’s and stretch the game that way. If we are camped in their half, I’m equally as comfortable getting the ball and running at people or running the channels. I just like to be direct and to get at people and try and to make a difference.
“As well as the league hopefully we can do well in the cup competitions this season. Aberdeen have a fantastic support and I know doing well in the cup competitions, means a lot to the fans and they deserve more silverware. From what I’ve seen of the squad so far there’s a lot of talent and hopefully we can achieve that.
“I’ve only been here for a day but I can already tell how big a club it is.”
Everyone at AFC wishes Miles all the very best during his time with The Dons.
