When the full time whistle sounds on Sunday, it will signify the end of a season which drew breath for the first time away back on the 24th of June last year at Glebe Park in Brechin as preparations for the Europa League campaign got underway.

Now, nearly 11 months later, we can reflect on many high points, some lows and all the other memories which delight and frustrate not just us but football fans the world over.

During this period, your dedicated Red TV team has endeavoured to reflect these feelings in our coverage of all Aberdeen’s competitive games and we sincerely hope all our subscribers around the world have felt themselves part of the journey which the club travelled on in season 2015/16. Dave Macdermid has been on duty for all bar one of our 46 matches in Europa League, Premiership and the two domestic cup competitions here at home, I while have missed only the away legs in Macedonia and Croatia.

No less than 14 different summarisers have sat in alongside us as we have brought Red TV viewers and listeners every kick of the ball from as far afield as Skopje, Rijeka and Almaty during what has been another enthralling campaign.

For Dave and myself, it has been a pleasure and indeed a privilege to have listened to the wit and wisdom of current players Ryan Jack, Mark Reynolds, Barry Robson, Peter Pawlett, Michael Rose and the Irish Ant and Dec -Jonny Hayes and Adam Rooney – as they have brought the unique insight to commentary of how players see a game as opposed to us, two old buffers who first and foremost are fans and watch the game from a somewhat one-eyed supporter’s perspective, not as a professional exponent of the beautiful game.

In addition we have revelled in the company of former players Joe Harper, Brian Irvine, Robert Connor, Steve Tosh and Lee Miller who are so pleased to see the club they played for right back where they belong, at the sharp end of the table chasing honours. It speaks volumes for the standing of our club and for the affection which it engenders in former players that, many years after they stopped playing for Aberdeen, these guys readily gave up their time and joined us to bring you all the big match action.

Russell Anderson and our former boss Craig Brown complete our gang of fourteen – two gentlemen of the Scottish game for whom matchday is anything but a quiet seat in the stand watching the match! Both have many varied duties to fulfil both before and after games at Pittodrie but both were always only too happy to spend their time with us up the back of the stand – where the sun never reaches! – adding significantly to the experience enjoyed by those who tune in to Red TV.

To all of you, from not just Dave and myself, but also from Malcolm Panton, Chris Anderson, Ryan Stuart and Scott Gormal, the other members of the team without whom Red TV simply wouldn’t happen, a massive thank you – your contribution has been hugely appreciated by everyone.

We’ve travelled more than 22,000 miles this season all told, we’ve listened to approximately 1,500 tracks from the 40,000 plus on Dave’s iPod as we have driven to and from domestic fixtures played at all sorts of times on every single day of the week, and it’s been a blast! And you know what, we can’t wait for it all to get going again next month to see where the 2016/17 journeys take us!

Have a great summer – keep watching and listening – let us know what you enjoy and what you think we can do better. Finally, thanks for your company, we truly appreciate it!
