Scott Brown named Community Supporter of the Year

29 April 2016

The fifth AFC Player of the Year Dinner, sponsored by Universal Inspection (UK) Ltd took place this evening at the AECC. The event was yet again a complete sell out as the Red Army turned out in force for an occasion that is now firmly established as one of the highlights of Aberdeen's social calendar.

For the second time there was an opportunity to put the spotlight on our Community Supporter of the Year after Apache won the inaugural award at last year's event.

The winner was once again selected by the AFCCT management team and the award was presented on the night by AFCCT's Chief Executive, Ally Prockter.

Aberdeen FC's Scott Brown was the worthy recipient of the award for the work that he has carried out throughout the season with AFC's partner charity.

AFCCT Chief Executive Ally Prockter explained the Community Trust's choice, “In 2015 Scott put himself forward as the first ever AFC Community Trust Player Ambassador, primarily supporting the Trust's Dementia Friendly initiatives. These initiatives are designed to help people living with the early stages of dementia to remain actively engaged in society.

During the season Scott has attended many Community Trust events, giving up his own time to support programme participants and their families and friends. Scott has willingly attended many Over 65s community programmes and has been a very active and visible supporter of AFC Community Trust. His support for AFCCT has gone well above and beyond what has been asked of him and he thoroughly deserves this award!”
