Guarana Drummers

26 April 2013

Halt-time Entertainment at Pittodrie

During half-time at Aberdeen v Kilmarnock on Saturday, the Guarana Drummers will be playing infront of the Merkland Stand, entertaining the crowd as Primary 1 pupils from Seaton PS, Riverbank PS, Walker Road PS and Tullos PS make their Pittodrie debut in small sided games on the pitch.

Guarana are a community street drumming band that enables access to playing music for all, no matter ability or age. Performance is encouraged from early on, engendering a sense of achievement and joy.

They are currently embarking on a Scotland wide tour, drumming in every town/village/place that has the word drum in it! This is a sponsored event in aid of CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen Network), the local charity that supports people with cancer and their families: A couple of weeks ago, Guarana started their tour at Drum Castle.

They currently have around 20 children and adults, based in Aberdeen, who love Street Drumming and really enjoy performing at events such as Family Fun Days, Open Days, Fetes and Galas, Parades, Demonstrations and Fund Raisers as well as Street Busking, more professional Music Festivals and Public Concerts.
