Afc Out And About
Aberdeen FC is proud to be a thriving, community driven football club who aim to have a positive impact far beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch
. We recognise our unique standing in the local community and appreciate the importance of giving something back as we actively engage with the local communities that support and sustain the club.
Here is a small taster of the recent activity that various representatives of the football club have undertaken this past fortnight in our efforts to interact with our local community.
AFC Youth Academy graduate, Peter Pawlett, joined Hazlehead Academy Performance School pupils, alongside Lynne Smith, Managing Director of Central Coaches to recognise the contribution Central make in ensuring the smooth running of the performance centre. Central Coaches have teamed up with Aberdeen FC to provide free transport for players attending the SFA Performance School at Hazlehead Academy.
Vice Chairman, George Yule, Head of AFC in the Community Ally Prockter, and Craig Brown hosted a Boardroom Dinner with new and old friends of the Club.
We will hold a number of Board room dinners throughout this year to allow the Club to say thank you to current sponsors and welcome any potential new sponsors from the business community
With the end of Grampian Police, Vice Chairman, George Yule, Head of AFC in the Community, Ally Prockter, and Facilities Manager, Paul Hendry, presented Chief Superintendent, Adrian Watson, who will be the new Aberdeen City and North Command for the new Police Service Of Scotland, with a signed shirt at the Hearts game to commemorate the end of an era and a great working partnership.
On Friday evening AFC representatives attended the Aberdeenshire Football Association 125th Anniversary Dinner at Thainstone Mart, enjoying entertainment from Tam Cowan and Alan Kennedy.
Midnight Leagues, a project that targets S1 – S5 to take part in football on Saturday nights, held it’s final last Saturday which saw the winning team receive a trophy. AFC in the Community offers support to this project by providing referees for the games.
Congratulations to Oldie Boys from Oldmachar Academy, pictured below, who won the S3-S5 Midnight Leagues category.
