The Dons return to training | The Manager on RedTV

Refresh

Manager Barry Robson spoke to RedTV on Friday morning and gave his reaction to the release of the cinch Premiership fixtures.

“It is always a difficult game going down to Livingston, but we are desperate to get going.

“We have a plan, we are structured, and we are organised, but the main focus will only be on the Livingston game.

“We are exciting about the season starting.

“Before that we have away games down at Preston and Charlton which will be very difficult matches. We are going to have to travel on a Thursday and a Sunday in the coming months, so it is a bit of preparation for what lies ahead, and the standard of opposition is high. It will be a good test for us as we go into the season.

“The boys have been great. They have come back  in good shape. The group is still a little light with numbers. We have managed to add a few players which I think everyone will be pleased about.

“The business we’ve done so far has been excellent.

“The players that we have managed to get in this far has been the type of player we want at this football club.

“We need to be diligent about the other players we bring in. I don’t want to rush it, I want it to be right and hopefully we can add something to the team that will make us better.

“First and foremost, you need to have energy and you need to want to win, and that’s the type of player and type of character we are looking at.

“We are down the road with some but sometimes in football it is hard to push it and get it over the line, but we are trying hard to do that.

“The message to all the players is come in and work hard.

“Everyone in the squad has the opportunity to perform in pre-season and impress myself and my staff.

“They are all good boys.

“They are all willing and wanting to do well and have come back in good shape. There is a competition for places here.

“Everyone is going to need to work hard every day and everyone is going to need to perform and if you don’t, you want find yourself in the team.”
