Jack MacKenzie | St Johnstone Press Conference
Jack MacKenzie was the player who spoke with the media on Tuesday to preview the Dons trip to Perth.
“I thought it was a professional performance on Friday night. Those games can be a tricky, I think we saw it with a number of the premiership teams at the weekend. I don’t think any of them were straight forward. So I felt we dealt with our game ok. The conditions were not great and the pitch was not as slick as we are used to but I thought we still moved the ball about well and we pretty much controlled the game from start to finish.
“I had my injury in December which was really frustrating.
“I was only out for three or four weeks but landed up missing six or seven games. I got the game against Ross County just before the break which was really good and getting three points and the clean sheet gave me a big lift going into the winter break. Getting another clean sheet on Friday was important. We just want to keep going, more clean sheets, more points on the board.
“Since I have come into the first team, I know that if my performances are good enough, then I will have a chance to stay in the team. I have an opportunity to play so it is up to me to make sure I keeping performing at a high level.
“We never get an easy match at McDiarmid Park. It is never normally a pretty game. Home or away, it is always a very difficult game against St Johnstone, certainly since I have been involved in the first team. It is a game that we know that we are capable of winning, but I am sure St Johnstone will be saying the same thing. It is up to us to keep performing to level that we have been in the last couple of games and see where it takes us.
“It is another huge week for the club. I think we have had a lot of huge weeks this season. We have played a lot of midweek games and it has pretty much been three games a week for the whole season. So we know how to deal with it. I think some weeks we have dealt with it better than others. We take it one game at a time though, and our full focus is on Wednesday night.”
