Red Matchday | Issue 6
This week in Red Matchday magazine, there is an in depth interview with defender Liam Scales.
“This is a massive club, you feel that in the city. When you win a game on the weekend it’s lively and then it might be a bit down if you lose the game. You feel the pressure from the fans to win every game, and rightly so with the history we have here and with the size of the club.
“We should be winning games most weeks, we should be really competing against the top teams and competing for European places and doing well in cup competitions. That’s obviously the goal so you do feel pressure but pressure is good, it keeps you on your toes, keeps you motivated.”
“Anthony and I get on well, we’re beside each other in the dressing room and I’m learning a lot from him. He’s played a lot of games in League One and the Championship in England, so he’s experienced. He’s a great guy, the captain of the club and I think he’s the right man for that for that role, because he’s a leader.
“I’m settled in well in the city, happy in my apartment. Obviously, I’ve got to know the lads really well from being away in Spain in pre-season, and now we’ve played nine or ten games, so I’m getting used to everything. I’ve been here a couple of months now, the weather has actually been good too, so that’s a plus!
“This is a big season for me. I’m 24 now. I’m at that age where I need games, I need to be playing regular football, otherwise I won’t progress. So it’s a big year for me to go and perform and hopefully be part of something special up here, because I feel the manager has built a good strong squad and there’s a lot of togetherness about us. I’m really happy to be part of that.”
Plus, a Q&A with Leighton Clarkson, the Young Don feature is with Ryan Duncan and you can collect the latest set of Red Matchday stickers!
