Mark Reynolds on RedTV
Mark Reynolds | The second player who had to speak to the press was the Dons central defender. As always Mark also spoke to RedTV:
“The result today was very harsh on us.
“I thought the performance was night and day compared with last week. We turned up, we acquitted ourselves well. We were physical when we needed to be. We got the ball down and created chances. We played at a high intensity but lost two sloppy goals. Turning off for a split second has cost us.
“Football can be a game of very fine margins. We have a chance at one end and then concede minutes later at the other.
“The biggest thing when you have a close game like this is to take your chances. We had a great chance to make it 1-0 and that would have made a huge difference. They then get a deflection for their first goal but we should have reacted better to the quick free-kick. Kenny Miller reacted to the half chance and it flips the game completely.
“Up to that point there was very little in the game. The second goal is sloppy as well, again we need to react
better.
“We created chances that we need to start taking.
“From one to eleven I felt we defended well and put pressure on them but they had enough half chances to win the game.
“It was a physical game. That is what you expect. All week the build up was about how important the game was to the fans. I thought we stood up to the physical side well.
“In summary, we have concerned two soft goals today and not taken our chances. Against any team in this league you are going to struggle if you do that.
“It is an opportunity missed. Rangers are going to be in and around us at the end of the season so today was a chance to leave a marker on them and cement our place. But that is football and we need to focus on winning our two games in hand and focus on the next game on Tuesday night.
“December is going to be a big month so we need to start building momentum. December always is. We need to set ourselves up for the new year and the second half of the season.”
